steamed egg (gyeran jjim)

Ingredients

  • 4-5 eggs
  • 1 green onion sliced
  • 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp salted shrimp
  • 1 cup dashi stock or water
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 slice american cheese optional

Instructions

  • in a small bowl, whisk the eggs together
  • add green onion (reserve some for topping at the end), fish sauce, and salted shrimp and mix together
  • add the dashi stock (or water) to a small pot over medium heat. once the broth is simmering, turn the heat down to low
  • pour the egg mixture into the broth and leave it/do not stir it for 10 seconds. after 10 seconds, slowly stir the eggs for about 3 minutes. once the eggs are almost cooked through, put the lid on and steam for 4 minutes
  • top with remaining green onion, sesame oil, and a slice of american cheese
  • enjoy!
