braised sardines

Ingredients

  • 1 can sardines
  • 1/2 onion sliced
  • 1 carrot sliced
  • 1/4 daikon radish sliced
  • 2 green onions sliced (reserve some for garnish)
  • 1 tsp neutral oil

sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp gochujang

Instructions

  • mix the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl and set aside
  • add the oil to a pan over medium low heat
  • add the slices of daikon radish to the bottom of the pan
  • add the onion and carrots
  • place the sardines on top of the vegetables
  • pour the sauce on top of the sardines
  • add most of the green onions (reserve rest for garnish) and put the lid on and simmer for 10 minutes
  • remove the lid, spoon the sauce over the sardines and cook for another 10 minutes
  • garnish with remaining green onion and serve with rice
